PA
CleanWays has a variety of opportunities through which individuals,
corporations, schools, and other groups and organizations
can help to support our mission.
If you would like to volunteer for PA CleanWays, please
contact us by submitting an online Volunteer
Interest Response Form.
Here is
a sampling of volunteer activities available (please note
some opportunities require training):
Litter
and Dump Cleanups
Do
you want to make a difference in ways you can see in your
own community?
If
so, a PA CleanWays chapter or affiliate can help you get
started on reducing dumping and littering in your community.
If a chapter or affiliate isn't nearby, you can order resources
for organizing a cleanup from PA CleanWays. Our cleanup
program is known for its emphasis on safety, effectiveness,
and community partnerships.
Public
Education/Outreach
Like to speak and teach? Visit a local community group to
educate them on implementing cleanups focusing on remediation,
enforcement and prevention. Training is required. Enjoy
meeting new people? Staff a PA CleanWays' booth at local
conferences, fairs and events in your area and educate the
public on our mission. You must be a "people person"
and have your own transportation.
Site Monitors
Like the outdoors? Hate trash and litter? Site Monitors
watch areas that have been cleaned by volunteers to ensure
subsequent dumping does not occur. The frequency with which
a site will need to be monitored depends on the frequency
of the dumping or littering. As a monitor, you will watch
over the site and maintain it by removing any small amounts
of trash as they occur or by scheduling maintenance cleanups.
Additionally, monitors report newly dumped trash to PA CleanWays
and contact the appropriate enforcement agency if identifying
evidence is found. Some training is required for this opportunity
and will be provided by PA CleanWays. Click
here to download the Site Monitoring Program Brochure.
PA
CleanWays maintains and promotes equal employment and
volunteer
opportunities without regard to race, color, religion,
ancestry, national origin,
age, gender, sexual preference, disability, marital status,
veteran status or
other non-merit factors.
