Placemat
Contest Winners Announced
The
annual Litter Awareness Placemat Design Contest sponsored by
PA CleanWays — State and the Department of Environmental Protection
included entries from four local participants who received Honorable
Mention ribbons for their designs. Hannah B., Erin H., Kelley S., and
Sarah S., all members of Elaine Siddon’s Sunday School class for grades
four through six at Lewistown Presbyterian Church, were recognized for
their efforts at the June meeting of the local chapter. The contest
was open to all students statewide in grades four to six.
A
grand prize winner and three grade level winners were chosen for the
contest theme "Litter In My World." This year's grand prize winner was
Casey H. of Berks County, and the grade level winners were Dayle M.
of Bucks County, sixth grade; Gaohnou L. of Philadelphia County, fifth
grade; and Danielle G. of Elk County, fourth grade. Their winning designs
will be featured on placemats that will be distributed through out the
state during Earth Month 2003. The placemats also include fun environmentally-oriented
activities on the back for patrons to enjoy.
Placemats
featuring last year’s statewide winners were distributed locally during
Earth Month in April by the Downtown OIP & Grille, Jack’s Mountain Restaurant
and Brewery, Bel-Vue Inn, and Peachey’s Restaurant.
Congratulations
to our local participants on their great designs! They will be on display
locally at PA CleanWays presentations throughout the year.
