Forest
Lands Beautification Program Cleanups,
November 2001
PA
CleanWays of Mifflin County was busy cleaning up our state forests this
past fall and spring through the PA Department of Conservation and Natural
Resources' (DCNR)
Forest Lands Beautification Program.
Two
cleanup projects were completed in November 2001 with 3.43 tons of trash
and 67 tires removed from sites along Licking Creek Road and Barrville
Road, located in the Tuscarora and Rothrock State Forests, respectively.
Cleanups
at three sites in the Bald Eagle State Forest, and one property adjoining
state forest land, were initiated in April 2002. The sites located along
Stillhouse Hollow Road, Siglerville-Millheim Pike, Havice Valley Road
and Kratzer Trail were rid of over 6.5 tons of trash, 422 tires and
1.87 tons of scrap metal. The second phase of these cleanup projects
will be scheduled for Fall 2002 to complete work on the Siglerville-Millheim
Pike, Havice Valley Road and Kratzer Trail sites.
Sponsors
and groups supporting the Bald Eagle State Forest cleanups included
Krentzman’s, Armagh Township, PA State Cabin Lessees Association, and
members of Milroy Fire Company.
Volunteers
interested in participating in fall cleanup projects are encouraged
to contact the chapter office to find
out more or to be included in future informational mailings.
