Volunteers
Help Clean Illegal Dump in Bald Eagle State Forest
On Saturday, March
29, 2003, fifteen volunteers worked together in the rain, to clean up
an illegal dumpsite in the Bald Eagle State Forest. The group gathered
one and a half tons of trash and scrap metal from the site along Route
235 near Shade Mountain.
Agway Energy Products
of Lewistown donated the use of their crane truck to lift large items
up the hill. Several appliances, furniture, construction debris, and
over 40 tires were collected.
The event was cosponsored
by the Forest
Lands Beautification Program. The program was created to fund the
cleanup of more than 200 dumpsites on State Forests and Park Lands.
