The Department of Environmental Protection’s mission is to protect Pennsylvania’s air, land and water from pollution and to provide for the health and safety of its citizens through a cleaner environment. The Department implements and oversees regulation of waste in Pennsylvania in accordance with Act 101, the Municipal Waste Recycling, Planning and Waste Reduction Act of 1988.

Great American Cleanup of PA Website

PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) 
The Department is responsible for maintaining and preserving the 116 state parks; managing the 2.1 million acres of state forest land; providing information on the state's ecological and geologic resources; and establishing community conservation partnerships with grants and technical assistance to benefit rivers, trails, greenways, local parks and recreation, regional heritage parks, open space and natural areas.

Professional Recyclers of Pennsylvania (PROP)
Professional Recyclers of Pennsylvania is a non-profit association of recycling professionals dedicated to promoting and enhancing the interests of recycling, recycling programs, composting, and composting programs in Pennsylvania.

PA Organization for Watersheds and Rivers (POWR)
Statewide non-profit organization for watershed awareness and conservation. You can read their "Watershed Weekly" Newsletter online.

 
Pennsylvania Environmental Council (PEC)
The Pennsylvania Environmental Council improves quality of life for all Pennsylvanians by enhancing the Commonwealth's natural and built environments by integrating advocacy, education and implementation of community and regional action projects.


 
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT)
PennDOT operates the Adopt-A-Highway Program for state-maintained roads. (Type in Adopt-A-Highway in the "Search" box.)

 
Susquehanna River Basin Commission (SRBC)
The SRBC has works to educate the basin's residents and businesses on the importance of keeping our streams and floodplain areas free of man-made debris. SRBC has partnered with PA CleanWays and other organizations to establish the Susquehanna River Basin Streamside Cleanup Training Academy and Assistance Program.

Pennsylvania Greenways
The Pennsylvania Greenways Clearinghouse website is an initiative of Pennsylvania's Greenways Program, a partnership of government, the Pennsylvania Greenways Partnership Commission, and organizations and citizens from around the state.

This site allows you to search for businesses that rent, repair, or sell used products across Pennsylvania.

 
Earth 911
It is the mission of Earth 911 to empower the public with community-specific resources to improve their quality of life.
Through a single toll-free phone call to 1-800-CLEANUP or the use of the Earth 911 Web site, you can access a national database for local recycling, composting, and disposal information.

Pennsylvania Material Trader
This is a free service designed to help Pennsylvania businesses find markets for materials they have traditionally discarded. Material Trader helps businesses, industries, and institutions save resources and money.

 
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
Office of Solid Waste home page, including information on the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) which regulates waste generated in the U.S.

 
EPA Region 5 Illegal Dumping Prevention Project
The Region 5 Illegal Dumping Prevention Project was established to exchange information and establish partnerships to develop and implement strategies to combat illegal dumping. The overall goal of this effort is to add value to local efforts to prevent and mitigate illegal dumping. This site contains many resources including an "Illegal Dumping Prevention Guidebook."

 
National Tree Trust
The National Tree Trust promotes healthy communities by providing resources that educate and empower people to grow and care for urban and community forests. PA CleanWays is a partner with the National Tree Trust.

National Environmental Training Center for Small Communities
NETCSC is a non-profit organization that improves the public health and environmental conditions of the nation's small communities by providing training and training-related information and referral services in the areas of wastewater, drinking water, and solid waste.
