Department of Environmental Protection’s mission is to
protect Pennsylvania’s air, land and water from pollution
and to provide for the health and safety of its citizens
through a cleaner environment. The Department implements
and oversees regulation of waste in Pennsylvania in accordance
with Act 101, the Municipal Waste Recycling, Planning
and Waste Reduction Act of 1988.

The Department is responsible for maintaining and preserving
the 116 state
parks; managing the 2.1 million acres of state forest land;
providing information on the state's ecological and geologic
resources; and establishing community conservation partnerships

trails, greenways, local parks and recreation, regional
heritage parks, open space and natural areas.

The SRBC has

importance of keeping our streams and floodplain areas free
of man-made debris. SRBC has partnered with PA CleanWays and

Streamside Cleanup Training Academy and Assistance Program.
