Jockey
Moore Road Cleanup Held in Conjunction with Wayne Township
Wayne Township held
their annual Spring Cleanup on April 27, 2002 and PA CleanWays joined
them for the annual cleanup of Jockey Moore Road. Jockey Moore Road
was first adopted in 1996. Township residents are invited to clean their
own roads. The township supervisors provide transportation of any trash
collected.
About
12 volunteers met at the Wayne Township Municipal Building and split
into three teams to cover Jockey Moore Road, Line Avenue, and Vinegar
Run. The combined efforts resulted in the removal and proper disposal
of 1.54 tons of trash.
Jockey
Moore Road has shown a remarkable decrease in the amount of litter and
illegal dumping over the past years. The Jockey Moore Road Adoption
is a model program and there is little doubt that the efforts of both
PA CleanWays, Wayne Township Supervisors, and the Lawrence County Recycling/Solid
Waste Department have been the driving force in reducing the illegal
dumping that has long plagued the Jockey Moore Road.
The
chapter extends its thanks to the Wayne Township Supervisors, Aiken
Refuse, BFI, Lawrence County Commissioners and Recycling and Solid Waste
Department, and the many volunteers who helped to make this event successful.
