We recently got a whole bunch of e-mails from kids at
Spring Ridge Elementary School in Berks County, PA.

"I think litter is getting out of hand. There is trash everywhere and a lot of people don't care about the environment. People think 'if I drop this piece of trash, it's gone and I don't have to worry about it.' But the point is, one piece of trash can harm the environment. If everyone doesn't care, our world will not be a nice place to live. Littering is important, and we can't forget about it. So I give advice to everyone out there, to recycle."
- Elizabeth, Age 14, Michigan

"I think that littering is not good.
I wish people did not know how
to litter."

- Nicole C., Age 11, Pennsylvania

"I think everybody should pick up litter and
not litter because we only have one world and
we should keep it neat and not trashy....litter
is stupid, so all you people out there should
help clean it."

- Jade F., Age 10, Westmoreland County

"I think everyone should recycle and put things
where they belong. Every time I walk outside,
there is trash laying in my yard. I get really
frustrated. Try throwing things in the trash if
you see something that is not yours. It will
REALLY help the environment. It will help
about 89%"

- Fatine A., Age 10, Collin County, TX

"I think that everyone can make a difference by not littering in our world. Instead of throwing a candy wrapper on the floor when finished, we could throw it away."
- Fatine A., Age 10, Collin County, TX

"I think littering is stoppable!"

- Tyler J., Age 10, Madison County, GA

"Litter is something that most people don't
think about. They say to themselves, 'it's just
one piece, it won't matter.' It's easy to see
that it doesn't take long before our Earth looks
ugly and polluted."

- Kyle K., Age 12, Chester County, PA

"I know that littering takes away beauty and
pride to a neighborhood. It makes unsafe places
for kids to play in.....Remember, the world is
your home, not your trash can."
- Koreana P., Age 10, Philadelphia County, PA

"My parents told me that there was no such thing as
recycling when they were growing up. Maybe that's why no
everyone takes recycling seriously. Kids my age might make
the difference since we were taught early about litter and
recycling and what we can do to help."

- Brent V., Age 9, Allegheny County, PA

"Even small people can make a difference in a big world."

- Shane R., Age 10, Somerset County, PA

"When we are camping and leave trash behind,
the animals do not understand that our garbage
is bad for their health."

- Shane R., Age 10, Somerset County, PA

"The only times littering got my attention, was when
I went on school trips. The school bus would pass by neighborhoods and streets, where trash was all over
the place. It looked cold and ugly. It looked as
if trash grew there instead of flowers."
- Koreana P., Age 10, Philadelphia County, PA

"I think that people who litter are mean and they
should not do such a thing. They need to realize that
they aren't only hurting the environment but they are
hurting animals and themselves as well. I wish I could
do something to make them stop."

- Cassie L., Age 11, USA

"I'm doing a project on how to stop littering and I have
that if we recycle more and not throw things on the
ground and pick up trash on the ground when you see
it you could help the environment alot."

- Zach H., Age 11, East Grand Rapids, MI

"When I walk past a piece of garbage on the playground I always pick it up. I think everyone should do it too. If they did, then the playground would be a cleaner place to play."
- Alex M., Westmoreland County, PA

"Hi! I'm a grade four student and your site is cool."
- Anne S., Age 9, Canada
