Bag Buddy by Olivia and Graham L.
"You don't have to waste the baggies, you just have to reuse them. It is a small way to save our environment. Recycling is important."

Language Arts Category:

Swap Shops by Ian K.
"Did you ever feel bad about throwing away perfectly good stuff? Well, I've got the solution; a Swap Shop. What is a Swap Shop? It is a place where people can bring unwanted items, clothing, furniture, tools, etc., anything too good to throw away. Then people needing or wanting things could take for free the items that they want. A Swap Shop could save a lot of land from landfills. A Swap Shop could bring people together and build a sense of community. I believe Swap Shops could save our country, our environment, our natural resources, and ourselves from a lot of destruction and waste."

Community Outreach Category:

Don't Just Toss It by Levi and Jack I.
"Our poster is to help people understand that some of their garbage should be recycled instead of thrown in garbage cans. We don't like to see anything thrown in a garbage can that can be recycled."

The Art of Recycling
by Gabrielle N.

"Learn not to waste
Get out the scissors and a little paste.
Make a great work of art,
You can sell at the mart.
But if you choose not to...
Do what we do...
Open up the recycle bin and just
Toss the recyclables in!"

Language Arts Category:

Recycling Plastic Must Be Mandatory by Betsy K.
"Recycling plastic should be our goal because plastic is not biodegradable. Landfills are filling up with tons of plastics and it will not rot or go away. We must do something about plastic waste and pollution. Not recycling plastics is wasting our resources. This is because making plastic uses 4% of the world's annual oil production and 3-4% more is used to manufacture items out of plastic. That uses up a lot of fossil fuels; then instead of reusing the plastic waste, we throw it away and the resources used to make it!"
