Visual Arts Category:

Hannah & Jayne H., Westmoreland County
Hannah and Jayne constructed a striking "before and after" diorama of a littered and uncared for wooded area.

Language Arts Category:

Brianna C.,
Allegheny County

Brianna crafted a beautiful poem that warns of the dangers of illegally dumping trash and the impact it has on the environment and the animals who live there.


Community Outreach Category:

Julie S.,
Monroe County

Julie set up a used battery collection box with information about proper disposal. Julie also encouraged her community to recycle batteries by placing an ad in the local newspaper.



Age Group 11 - 18

Visual Arts Category:

Maggie R.,
Allegheny County

Maggie developed and designed a computer-generated cartoon character who fights littering. He cleans up litter and gains support along the way...even from some previous foes.


Language Arts Category:

Katie B.,
Somerset County

Katie wrote a speech about the growing problem of litter and presented it at the Somerset County 4-H Public Speaking Contest.


Community Outreach Category:

Isaac & Judson G.,
Columbia County

Isaac and Judson worked together to organize a cleanup of their local town park. After the cleanup, they set up a booth at their public library to raise awareness of the trash problem at the town park. The display included a Litter Hawk made from recycled materials and a "Back to the Future" style story about the dangers of trash.
