Trees
Available for Planting
A
variety of trees are available at no charge this fall to individuals
or groups interested in beautifying public lands, such as parks, school
grounds, cemeteries, public golf courses, roadways, and pathways through
PA CleanWays of Indiana County. Registration deadline is September
12.
The trees are potted in two and three-gallon containers and are one
to three feet tall. Ready for planting this fall are White Pine, White
Spruce, Blue Spruce, Shumard Oak, Sweet Gum, Service Berry, White Oak,
Paw Paw, Silky Dogwood, Red Maple, Chinese Chestnut, Hackberry, Red
Oak, Green Ash, and Red Bud trees.
PA CleanWays encourages tree planting as one way of fighting littering
and illegal dumping. An area that is naturally beautiful and well cared
for is less likely to be trashed by uncaring people. In addition, trees
provide many benefits to the environment and our communities.
The National Tree Trust, ARC Technologies, Dominion, Allegheny Energy
and the Tribune- Review sponsor the PA CleanWays tree program. Contact
the Indiana Chapter office for registration information.
