Chapter Accomplishments
Another
Successful Year for Indiana Chapter
Thanks
to our volunteers and members we are making Indiana County a cleaner
community - one bag of trash at a time. Highlighted below are our
accomplishments for fiscal year 2002-2003. Thank you to everyone
who contributed to our vision of a trash free county!

141
volunteers removed 3.13 tons of trash and 21 tires from 17 littered
roads, 1 trail, 1 park, and 3 waterways through PA CleanWays of
Indiana County's adoption program.

volunteers removed 7.87 tons of trash, 45 tires and 1 refrigerator
from the Aultman Run Watershed during the 3rd Annual Watershed
Wide Cleanup.

youth groups participated in the 5th Annual Fugitive Tire Program
removing 857 tires from woods, fields, streams, and other out
of the way locations in Indiana County. 8 local tire companies
donated the cost of tire disposal for this effort.

public presentations were made, and over 572 people were educated
about the PA CleanWays mission.

individuals tested their knowledge of decomposition on the Litter
IQ Board.

"Open Your Eyes to Litter," 1,447 "Our Littered
Past," and 1,805 "Think Before You Toss" activity
books were distributed to school children throughout the county.

5,000
educational placemats were distributed to 8 local restaurants.

Received
funding from Gorell Enterprises, Inc., PA CleanWays, Inc., the
Pennsylvania Association of Conservation Districts, Inc., and
the Susquehanna River Basin Commission.
