Another Successful Year For Indiana Chapter
Thanks
to our volunteers and members we are making Indiana County a cleaner
community - one bag of trash at a time.
Highlighted below
are our accomplishments for fiscal year 2003-2004.
- 195 volunteers
removed 20.51 tons of trash and 1,040 tires from 23 roadways, 3 waterways,
1 trail, 1 park, and 2 illegal dumpsites through PA CleanWays of Indiana
County's adoption and illegal dump cleanup programs.
- 6 youth groups
participated in the 6th Annual Fugitive Tire Program removing 1,100
tires from woods, streams, fields and other out of the way locations
in Indiana County. 7 local tire companies donated the cost of tire
disposal for this effort.
- 7 public presentations
were made, and 522 people were educated about the PA CleanWays mission.
- 353 individuals
tested their knowledge of decomposition and recycling on the Litter
IQ Board and the Recycling Board.
- 1,139 "Open
Your Eyes to Litter," 617 "Our Littered Past," and
1,731 "Think Before You Toss" activity books were distributed
to elementary school children throughout the county.
- 3,000 educational
bookcovers were distribued to 8 local schools.
