Another Successful Year For Indiana Chapter

Thanks to our volunteers and members we are making Indiana County a cleaner community - one bag of trash at a time.

Highlighted below are our accomplishments for fiscal year 2003-2004.

  • 195 volunteers removed 20.51 tons of trash and 1,040 tires from 23 roadways, 3 waterways, 1 trail, 1 park, and 2 illegal dumpsites through PA CleanWays of Indiana County's adoption and illegal dump cleanup programs.

  • 6 youth groups participated in the 6th Annual Fugitive Tire Program removing 1,100 tires from woods, streams, fields and other out of the way locations in Indiana County. 7 local tire companies donated the cost of tire disposal for this effort.

  • 7 public presentations were made, and 522 people were educated about the PA CleanWays mission.

  • 353 individuals tested their knowledge of decomposition and recycling on the Litter IQ Board and the Recycling Board.

  • 1,139 "Open Your Eyes to Litter," 617 "Our Littered Past," and 1,731 "Think Before You Toss" activity books were distributed to elementary school children throughout the county.

  • 3,000 educational bookcovers were distribued to 8 local schools.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to our vision of a trash-free county!
