Illegal
Dump Survey Continues
PA CleanWays of Indiana County is currently working to complete a comprehensive
illegal dumpsite survey. The goal of this project is to identify, assess,
and fully document every illegal dumpsite within Indiana County. The
final objectives of the survey are to educate the public on the personal
and environmental consequences of illegal dumping; to reveal contributing
and deterring factors to the presence of illegal dumps; to increase
public awareness, support, and involvement in a cleaner environment;
and to generate community interest in cleaning the sites.
If
you know of an illegal dump site that you would to see included
in this countywide survey, please fill out our online
Illegal Dump Survey form to let us know about it.

Before these objectives
can be met, every site must first be identified and then assessed for
information such as the size of the dump, its proximity to water, and
the number of tires and other types of trash it contains. If you would
like to volunteer to help identify and assess sites throughout Indiana
County, please contact the Indiana chapter
office. In addition, if you know of an illegal dumpsite in your
neighborhood, please contact the office with that information.
Funding for this
project was provided by the Indiana County Endowment of The Pittsburgh
Foundation.
