Fall 2003 Household Hazardous Waste and Tire Collection
The hazardous waste
just keeps coming, year after year. According to our surveys, 100 cars
brought 6, 523 lbs. of HHW to the fairgrounds on September 23, 2003.
The event, which was sponsored by the Huntingdon County Recycling Program,
was made possible through a grant from the Department of Environmental
Protection as well as support from the County Commissioners. Residents
who have taken advantage of these opportunities are to be applauded
for their concern for the environment and proper waste disposal. A total
of 6,523 lbs. of hazardous waste was collected.
In addition to the
HHW, PA CleanWays of Huntingdon County also held a tire collection in
which small car and truck tires were disposed of for a fee of $2.50
per tire. 75 tires were collected and disposal was handled by Parks
Garbage Service, Inc. We would like to thank the volunteers from Juniata
College for helping in the days events as part of Make-A-Difference
Day activities.
