Jackson
Township Illegal Dumpsite Cleanup - March 2003
On March 27, 2003,
yet another site was completed. The illegal dumpsite, located on Cottage
Hill Road, has been a blight on Jackson Township for thirty years. For
a project of this magnitude, the local community rallied together.
Through donations
and a grant made possible by Representative Bill DeWeeses' office, this
blight has been erased from Jackson Township. Warden Gillispie sent
the manpower for the project. Inmates from the county jail arrived to
dig in, clean up, and give back to the community. They loaded 6,000
tires into six roll-offs to be taken to CBF to be recycled.
This dumpsite cleanup
was definitely a feather in the cap of PA CleanWays of Greene County
and the many volunteers who stood up and said "We will no longer
endure this reckless disregard for the environment!"
