CleanWays of Fulton County
PA CleanWays of Fulton County,
a chapter of PA CleanWays, was formed in 2009 with support from
the Fulton County Conservation District. The chapter focuses on
cleanups of illegal dumps and educating the public on the detriments
of illegal dumping and littering. With the assistance of the Fulton
County Conservation District, the chapter also holds special collection
events for hard-to-dispose of items. Since our inception through
the end of 2009, Fulton County has held 6 cleanups removing and
properly disposing of 15.5 tons of trash as well as recycling
724 tires!
Although we are newly formed, we
have had great support from local townships, residents, conservation
groups, and businesses. Since our inception, our volunteers have
donated 250 hours to help eliminate littering and illegal dumping
in our county!
Unfortunately, illegal dumping
is a problem in Fulton County. The Fulton
County Illegal Dump Survey was completed in 2008 by PA
CleanWays to identify illegal dumpsites within the county. The
survey results show that Fulton County has 19 illegal dumpsites
that total an estimated 169 tons of trash. One of those dumpsites,
on Frank Road, has had two cleanups. Partnering with Thompson
Township, 21 volunteers removed and properly disposed 2.32 tons
of trash and recycled 50 tires on the second cleanup to finish
restoration of the site.

Please check our Calendar
of Events for upcoming cleanups. If you would like to
become a volunteer for the chapter, please contact Greg Reineke,
Chapter Coordinator, at 717-485-3547, or by e-mail.
If you would like to make a donation to PA CleanWays of Fulton
County to help support chapter activities, please consider giving
to the PA CleanWays Clean
and Green Fund.
