CleanWays partnered with PA CleanWays of Royal
Gardens in Morris Park, West Philadelphia,
and Fairmount Parks to do a cleanup in Morris
Park on March 10th, 2007. Fifty seven volunteers
came out on a sunny day to clean a section
of the park that had been a problem area for
dumping. In one day, the volunteers removed
10.5 tons of waste! The area remains clean
and gardens have been planted for the community
to enjoy where the dumpsite used to occupy.
This cleanup
was funded by a Federal Coastal Zone Management
Grant provided by the Pennsylvania Department
of Environmental Protection with funds also
provided by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric
Administration.
