| The Thomas
Hill dump site in Wayne Township, Greene County,
was the first cleanup PA CleanWays of Greene
County, then a Chapter but now an Affiliate,
attempted. They started in June of 2001, but
due to heavy rains that year they could only
work for two days. When fall arrived, they
were able to work for a day removing tires
from the site but once again heavy rains prevented
them from doing any further work that season.
The following
spring brought good weather and the site
was finished in April of 2002.
Over the
span of four days, 46 volunteers removed
40.5 tons of trash and scrap metal and 555
tires!
