This large cleanup along the Catawissa Canal in Columbia County in July of 2007 first started with a contractor using heavy equipment. Volunteer efforts followed to get some of the smaller pieces of waste the equipment didn't get. In total, we removed 87 tons of waste, 14 tons of scrap metal, and 154 tires! The volunteer day included 19 students from Southern Columbia High School.

This cleanup was fund by a Growing Greener Grant provided by the PA Department of Environmental Protection.
