Chapter Involved in Forest Lands Beautification Program
Under
the Forest Lands Beautification Program, 11 volunteers donated 48 hours
of their time to clean six illegal dumpsites along Decker Avenue in
the West End section of Johnstown.
The volunteers
worked hard to removed 4.29 tons of trash and 200 tires from the six
dumps. Alternative Demolition, contracted to remove and chip trees and
brush from the area, removed an additional 3.44 tons of material under
the piles of brush.
Waste Management
donated the roll-offs used in the cleanup as well as landfill space
for the trash. St. Therese's Church donated the use of their church
hall for volunteers to warm up and have lunch.
The next Cambria
County Chapter cleanup under the Forest Lands Beautification Program
is scheduled for April 12, 2003.
