Results
of the 2002 West Nile Virus Surveillance Program
The
Cambria County Chapter of PA CleanWays has tallied the results of the
West Nile Surveillance Program for 2002. A total of 808 samples were
collected from 385 established throughout the county. (For a listing
of sites, please contact the chapter.)
Of those samples
tested for West Nile Virus, one positive mosquito was isolated. 24 dead
birds were discovered, 15 of which were tested for WNV. Four of the
birds tested positive for the virus.
