Fugitive Tire Program Update
Three groups participated
in two Fugitive Tire projects this past fall. St. Paul's Lutheran Church
youth group removed 550 tires from Benschoff Hill Road in Jackson Township.
Seven youth members and six adults participated in the cleanup. Jackson
Township supervisors paid for a trucking company to haul these tires
to Shade Landfill where the tires were recycled at no cost to PA CleanWays.
Boy Scout Troop
95 and Cub Scout Pack 71 from Hastings and Patton removed 406 tires
from areas in Northern Cambria County. With 14 youth and 11 adults working,
these groups donated 75 hours to the project. Both the Boy Scout troop
and Cub Scout Pack are second year participants in the chapter's Fugitive
Tire Program

is ugly and depressing to see. It hurts and destroys the habitats of wildlife.
We need to appreciate and protect the environment more!" - Youth

PA CleanWays of Cambria
County recently completed its third year of participation in the Fugitive
Tire Program. Over the last three years, a total of 13 groups have collected
2,660 tires. For this year's program, the Cambria Chapter has received
a $1,000 grant from PACD to fund tire disposal and recycling. So far,
four groups have signed up to collect tires. Keep an eye on the PA
CleanWays Calendar of Events for details.
