  • April and May; Special Collection or Recycling Event in Cambria County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Cambria County. We are sponsoring local Boy Scout Troops to collect fugitive tires around the county. In all, we expect to collect 1,500 tires in this event.   • April 2; Noon to 4 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Butler County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Butler/Lawrence Counties. This event will be held in Cranberry Township and we will be cleaning small illegal dump areas and roadways. For more information, please contact Jerry Zona at 724-658-6925 or e-mail.

  • April 3; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Adams County, sponsored by PA CleanWays. This event will take place at the Bittle Road dumpsite in Germany Township. Volunteers should meet at 9 AM at the site. From Gettysburg: Take Rt 97 South for 10 miles to Littlestown. Just outside of town, make a right onto Bittle Road (by St. Aloysius cemetery). The site is back 1/2 mile, after the sharp left turn into the woods. Lunch and drinks will be provided. Registration deadline is April 1. Volunteers should wear sturdy shoes or boots and long pants.   • April 8; 8 AM to Noon; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Lawrence County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Butler/Lawrence Counties. This event will be held at the Neshannock Creek/Cascade Quarry dumpsite. For more information, please contact Jerry Zona at 724-658-6925 or e-mail.

  • April 10; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Clarion County, sponsored by PA CleanWays. This event will take place at the Concord Church Road tire pile in Perry Township. Volunteers should meet at 8:45 AM at the tire pile. From Dutch Hill, go 1.5 miles. Go North on Doc Walker Road (SR 3001) and turn right onto Concord Church Road. Go 1.1 miles. The dump site is on the right. Signs will be posted. Lunch and drinks will be provided. Registration deadline is April 8. Volunteers should wear sturdy shoes or boots and long pants.   • April 10; 8 AM to 4 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Venango County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Venango County. Volunteers are needed to help clean up Durkin Road in Cornplanter Township. There are two sites along Durkin Road that were identified in the 2008 PA CleanWays Illegal Dump Survey in Venango County. These two sites are still active and continue to accumulate debris. The successful cleanup of both sites would effectively eliminate 24%, or 30 tons, of the township's reported tonnage.   • April 10; 9AM to Noon; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Huntingdon County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Huntingdon County. This cleanup will start on the Alexandria side of the mountain.   • April 10; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Fulton County, sponsored by PA CleanWays and PA CleanWays of Fulton County. Volunteers are needed to help clean up trash at the Licking Creek illegal dumpsite in Thompson Township. Volunteers should meet at 8:45 AM at the site on Licking Creek Road. From McConnellsburg, follow US-522 S/Great Cove Road for approximately seven miles. Turn left onto PA-928/Big Tannery Road and follow for approximately seven miles. Turn left onto Johnson Road. Once you cross over Licking Creek, turn right onto Licking Creek Road and you will end at the dumpsite. Look for PA CleanWays signs. Lunch and drinks will be provided.   • April 10; 9 AM to 4 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Centre County, sponsored by PA CleanWays. This event will take place at the Snow Shoe Rails to Trails Gillentown Trailhead. Volunteers should meet at the trailhead sign at 8:45 AM. From Snow Shoe, (Exit 147 on I-80), go west on Route 144 (West Sycamore Road) for 2.5 miles. Trailhead will be on your left. Park at the SSRTA parking lot. Lunch and drinks will be provided. Volunteers should wear sturdy shoes or boots and long pants.   • April 10; 9 AM to 11:30 AM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Fayette County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Fayette County. This cleanup is being held in Luzerne and Redstone Townships.   • April 10; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Bedford County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Bedford County. This is a stream-side litter cleanup and a community cleanup in several townships in Bedford and southern Blair counties. We will be cleaning along the length of Bob's Creek.   • April 10; 9 AM to Noon; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Mifflin County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Mifflin County. This is a combination cleanup for several roads. Big Ridge and Ort Valley Roads, Granville Road and Lions Club Road. Volunteers will meet at the Mifflin County Library in Lewistown at 8:30 for bags and supplies and will travel to the sites from there.   • April 14; 9 AM to 1PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Washington County, sponsored by PA CleanWays and PA CleanWays of Washington County. This is a volunteer trash and tire cleanup along McClelland Road. Volunteers should meet at 9 AM at the Trax Farm parking lot. Park at the far end away from the building near the carry out area. Trax Farm is located at 528 Trax Road, 12 miles south of Pittsburgh just off of SR 88, near Finleyville. Volunteers will car poll to the cleanup site.   • April 16; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Indiana County, sponsored by PA CleanWays. This event will take place at the North Elkin Road dumpsite in North Mahoning Township. Volunteers should meet at 9 AM at the site. From Indiana: Take Route 119 North for approx 9 miles, turn left on Rt 85 for 5.5 miles, turn right on 210 North in Plumville for 6.7 miles, then left onto Alabran Road. The cleanup is at the intersection of Alabran and North Elkin Roads. Lunch and drinks will be provided. Registration deadline is April 14. Volunteers should wear sturdy shoes or boots and long pants.   • April 17; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Clarion County, sponsored by PA CleanWays. This is a volunteer cleanup that will be held at the Black Fox Road dumpsite in Perry Township. Meet at 8:45 AM at the site. From West Freedom, go 2.4 miles. Go South on SR 3001 and turn left (East) onto Black Fox Road and go 0.8 miles. Dumpsite is on the right. Registration deadline is April 15. Volunteers should wear sturdy shoes or boots and long pants. Lunch and drinks will be provided.   • April 17; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Allegheny County, sponsored by Allegheny CleanWays. Join us as we clean up debris along a wooded section of Josephine Street on the Southside Slopes. The debris is scattered throughout the wooded hillside along Josephine. While most of the debris is not particularly heavy, nor messy, the terrain of the hillside may present some challenges. Many hands are needed to make the work much lighter. As always, we'll provide refreshments and all the equipment you'll need. Please wear sturdy, close-toed shoes or boots, long pants, and a long-sleeved shirt.   • April 21; 9 AM to 1PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Perry County, sponsored by PA CleanWays and PA CleanWays of Perry County. This cleanup will be held along Hollow Road in Greenwood Township. Volunteers should meet at 8:45 AM at the dumpsite. [From US-22/322: Take the Exit toward PA-17 Millerstown; Follow Market Street/W Juniata Parkway/State Route 1015 South for 0.5 miles; Turn Left onto Perry Valley Road/State Route 1010; Follow for 2.6 miles; Turn Right onto Hollow Road; End at Dumpsite on Left.] Volunteers will help remove litter and illegal dumping.   • April 22; 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Allegheny County, sponsored by Allegheny CleanWays. This event is being sponsored by REI, one of our partners in the Tireless Project. Join us and our other partners for this special Earth Day event, meeting at REI in the South Side Works. Participants will remove debris and litter from the Monongahela Riverfront and perform general trail and riverfront stewardship including removal of litter and invasive plant species and tending/planting native trees and shrubs.   • April 22; 8:45 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Armstrong County, sponsored by PA CleanWays. This is a volunteer cleanup and will be held in Madison Township. Volunteers should meet at the Madison Township Building and we will carpool to the site. Registration deadline is Tuesday, April 20th.   • April 22; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Washington County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Washington County. This is a volunteer trash and tire cleanup of four sites in Canton Township. Volunteers should meet at Canton Township Recreation Hall on Rt. 844 and will carpool to the various sites.   • April 24; 8 AM to Noon; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Allegheny County, sponsored by Allegheny CleanWays. This event is part of Hazelwood Initiative's Community Reddup. Participants will be removing debris, including appliances, tires, and household trash, from the hillside along Sylvan Avenue in Hazelwood. Teamwork, ingenuity, and brute force will be required at times. There's a good chance you'll get dirty on this project, but an even better chance that you'll have fun and feel a sense of accomplishment when it's all done. Please wear sturdy close-toed shoes or boots, long pants, and a long-sleeved shirt. All equipment, supplies, and refreshments will be provided.
    Directions from downtown, take 2nd Avenue to Greenfield Ave/PA-885. Make a brief left onto Greenfield Avenue, then an immediate right onto Irvine Street/PA-885. Stay on Irvine for approximately a mile, then make a left onto Hazelwood Avenue. Go a few blocks and make a left onto Sylvan Avenue. Look for us on the left towards the end of Sylvan Avenue.   • April 24; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Indiana County, sponsored by PA CleanWays. This event will take place at the Buterbaugh Road dumpsite in Grant Township. Volunteers should meet at 9 AM at the site. From Indiana: Take Rt 119 North for 12 miles, turn right off 119 to Marion Center (Deckers Point Road) and continue for 3.9 miles. Turn right at Julock /Dixonville Road and take an immediate left onto Pine Vale Road, then right onto Buterbaugh Road. Continue on Buterbaugh Road for approximately 1.3 miles; the site will be on your right. Lunch and drinks will be provided. Registration deadline is April 22.   • April 24; 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Fayette County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Fayette County. This cleanup is in Redstone Township on Newcomer Road. It is a dumpsite on a flat surface approximately 1/2 mile long with several concentrated dumps. There is also scattered litter and tires.   • April 24; 8 AM to 1 PM; Special Collection or Recycling Event in Cambria County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Cambria County. We are holding our annual appliance and tire collection in Croyle Township. The following fees will apply; appliances with Freon $12, appliances without Freon $6, tires off rim $2, and tires on rim $3.   • April 24; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Adams County, sponsored by PA CleanWays.This event will take place at various sites within Michaux State Forest. Meet at 8:45 AM at the Iron Furnace Monument parking lot along Route 30 in Caledonia State Park. From Gettysburg: Take Route 30 West for 15 miles- parking lot will be on your right at the red light. From Chambersburg: Take Route 30 East for 10 miles, parking lot will be on your left. Lunch and drinks will be provided. Registration deadline is April 22.   • April 24; 9 AM to 1PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Washington County, sponsored by PA CleanWays and PA CleanWays of Washington County. Volunteers are needed to help remove litter and illegal dumping at the Sichi Hill Road dumpsite in Mingo Creek Park. From Washington, follow PA 136 for 11 miles and turn left onto Sichi Hill Road. Dumpsite is on right. From I-70, take Exit 27/Dunningsville and follow Brownlee Road North for 1.3 miles. Turn right onto PA-136 East and follow for 2.5 miles.   • April 24; 9:30 AM to Noon; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Clinton County, sponsored by Clinton County CleanScapes. This cleanup will be held on Rock Road in Lock Haven & Allison Townships.   • April 24; 9 AM to 2PM; Educational Event in Mifflin County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Mifflin County. During "Kid Connection", volunteers will be sharing the Litter IQ education board with children and adults to help educate them on hazards of littering. This event will take place at Lewistown Borough. We will also have educational handouts on how long litter lasts. Volunteers will also help keep the streets free of litter throughout the event.   • April 27; 9 AM to 1 PM; Educational Event in Bedford County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Bedford County. This is an Earth Day celebration with various displays and activities.   • April 27; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Bedford County, sponsored by PA CleanWays. This cleanup is being held along Diehl Road in Napier Township. This cleanup will be held along Lower Bailey Road in Miller Township. Volunteers should meet at 8:45 AM at the dumpsite.
