  • September 7; 9 AM to Noon; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Allegheny County, sponsored by Allegheny CleanWays. Join us as we join forces with Mt. Washington CDC for a cleanup of Mt. Washington Park. We'll be pulling tires, old appliances, and other debris from a wooded hillside in the park in the morning. Stick around afterwards for an art/outdoors festival and watch local artists make art from all that "junk". Long pants, long sleeved shirts, and close-toed shoes or boots are recommended.   • September 8; 8:30 AM to Noon; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Allegheny County, sponsored by Allegheny CleanWays. This event is a Tireless Project and will be hosting a cleanup of the riverbank and trail along the Ohio River. We'll provide equipment, refreshments, and instructions. Please wear long pants, sturdy boots or shoes (close-toed), and be prepared for inclement weather. To get there from downtown, merge onto 279-N from Fort Pitt Blvd, then merge onto PA 65 N via exit 7B on the left towards I-19/Ohio River Blv. Take Chateau St/US19S/West End Bridge exit towards PA -51/Western Ave. Take the Chateau Street ramp. Stay straight to go onto Chateau Street. Take a slight right onto Beaver, then an almost immediate left onto Westhall Street. Parking is along Westhall. Look for our table and banner near the trail.   • September 12; 9 AM to Noon; Educational Event in Westmoreland County, sponsored by Westmoreland Cleanways. This will be held at The Barn at Donohoe Center in Hempfield Township. Preregistration required; $5 material fee. For more information, contact Ellen Keefe at 724-836-4129 or e-mail.

  • September 12; 8:30 AM to Noon; Special Collections or Recycling Event in Westmoreland County, sponsored by Westmoreland Cleanways. This special collections event is being held at Westmoreland Fairgrounds in Mount Pleasant Township. We'll be accepting tires, lead acid batteries, scrap metal, Freon appliances, and electronics.   • September 12; 9 AM to 2 PM; Special Collection or Recycling Event in Greene County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Greene County. This recycling event will be held at the Greene County Fairgrounds and we will be collecting tires and electronics. There will be a fee for some items.   • September 12; 10 AM to 4 PM; Educational Event in Mifflin County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Mifflin County. This will take place at Wayne Township Community Park where volunteers will display an information booth and a Litter IQ Board.   • September 19; 10 AM to1 PM; Special Collection or Recycling Event in Lawrence County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Butler-Lawrence Counties. This recycling event will be held at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds and is for appliances, electronics, tires, batteries, and fluorescent lights.   • September 19; 9 AM to Noon; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Allegheny County, sponsored by Allegheny CleanWays. Join us for our annual cleanup of the Lawrenceville Riverfront as part of the International Coastal Cleanup Day. We'll be removing litter and debris from along the Lawrenceville Riverfront Trail and the adjacent Allegheny River riparian buffer zone. Equipment, refreshments, instructions, and lunch will be provided. Come dressed appropriately (we suggest long pants and sturdy boots or shoes) and be prepared for inclement weather. To get there from downtown Pittsburgh, take Liberty Avenue into Lawrenceville and turn left onto 40th Street. Proceed towards the 40th Street Bridge and turn right just before you get to the bridge. Continue on 40th Street. Park in the parking lot at the end of the street. Look for our table and banner in the small park near the trail.   • September 19; 9 AM to 2 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Philadelphia County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Royal Gardens in Morris Park. We'll be removing illegal dumping along the perimeter of Mount Moriah Cemetery at Cobbscreek Parkway and Springfield Avenue, Fairmount Park Commission.   • September 19; 8 AM to Noon; Special Collections or Recycling Event in Huntingdon County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Huntingdon County. This event will take place at the Huntingdon County Fairgrounds. Volunteers are needed for the 4th annual Tire Recycling Challenge. PA CleanWays of Huntingdon County and PA CleanWays of Mifflin County compete against each other to see who collects and recycles the most tires. Bring old tires or stop by to help load the tires!   • September 19; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Bedford County, sponsored by PA CleanWays and PA CleanWays of Bedford County. This cleanup is being held along Martin Farm Road in Broad Top Township. Volunteers should meet at 8:45 AM at the Six Mile Run Area Volunteer Fire Company's parking lot. (From US Rt. 30, follow PA-26 N for 12.9 miles. Turn right onto Six Mile Run Road-T529 and follow for 1.9 miles. Parking lot is on the right.) Volunteers will carpool to the site.   • September 19; 8:30 AM to 1 PM; Special Collection or Recycling Event in Mifflin County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Mifflin County. Once again, we will be competing against PA CleanWays of Huntingdon County to see who can collect the most tires. We are giving people a chance to dispose of tires properly. This year, we will be collecting tires at the Granville Township Building on 100 Helen Street. Take State Route 103 South across the Viscose Bridge, turn right onto Helen Street.   • September 19; 8 AM to 1 PM; Special Collection or Recycling Event in Cambria County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Cambria County. This event will take place at the Cambria Township Municipal Building and is for appliances, tires, and electronics. Fees apply and are as follows: tires on rims $3, tires off rims $2, appliances containing Freon $12, appliances not containing Freon $6, and televisions and monitors $1 per inch (measured diagonally).   • September 19; 9 AM to 4 PM; Education Event in Allegheny County, sponsored by Allegheny CleanWays. Join us at the ALCOSAN Open House as we will be using our Litter IQ Board to educate visitors about the hazards of litter and the benefits of recycling.   • September 23; 10 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Allegheny County, sponsored by Allegheny CleanWays. We will be working with Venture Outdoors, REI, Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy, and the Hill House Association to clean up and improve trails in Kennard Park. Projects will include trail maintenance, litter clean-up and weeding. Wear long pants, boots or close-toed sturdy shoes. Equipment and food will be provided. To get there from downtown, take Centre Avenue to Kirkpatrick Street. Make a right onto Kirkpatrick. Go a couple of blocks.   • September 24; 9:30 AM to Noon; Beautification Event in Philadelphia County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Royal Gardens in Morris Park. We will be removing collected leaves and debris around Papa Playground. For more information, please contact Nicole Chandler at 215-473-1885 or e-mail.

  • September 24; 2 PM to 5 PM; Beautification Event in Philadelphia County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Royal Gardens in Morris Park.   • September 24; 1 PM to 7 PM; Special Collections or Recycling Event in Blair County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Blair County in partnership with WTAJ Central PA Green Initiative. This will be taking place at the Appliance Outlet on Rt. 764 in Allegheny Township.   • September 26; 8:30 AM to Noon; Special Collections or Recycling Event in Westmoreland County, sponsored by Westmoreland Cleanways. This special collections event is being held at Norwin Hills Shopping Center in North Huntingdon Township. We'll be accepting tires, lead acid batteries, scrap metal, Freon appliances, and electronics. There will be a charge for tires, e-waste, and Freon removal.
