  • October 3; 9 AM to Noon; Educational Event in Westmoreland County, sponsored by Westmoreland Cleanways. This will be held at The Barn at Donohoe Center in Hempfield Township. Preregistration required; $5 material fee. For more information, contact Ellen Keefe at 724-836-4129 or e-mail.

  • October 3; 9 AM to 2 PM; Special Collections or Recycling Event in Westmoreland County, sponsored by Westmoreland Cleanways. This Household Hazardous Waste Collection event is being held at Westmoreland Fairgrounds in Mt. Pleasant Township. We'll be collecting chemicals, solvents, cleaners, automotive fluids, etc. There is a fee based on residence. For more information, please contact Ellen Keefe at 724-836-4129 or e-mail.

  • October 3; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Perry County, sponsored by PA CleanWays and PA CleanWays of Perry County. This is the third volunteer cleanup at the Boots Hollow Road dumpsite. Volunteers should meet at 8:45 AM behind the Bear's Den Restaurant on SR 74 south of the intersection of SR 74 and SR 17 in Ickesburg. Volunteers will carpool to the dumpsite.   • October 3; 8:30 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Mifflin County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Mifflin County. This cleanup is taking place at Jack's Creek in Derry Township and McVeytown in Oliver Township. Volunteers will be loading tires from two cleanup sites. The first site is in McVeytown on River Road and the second site is in Lewistown on Jack's Creek Road. The rain date for this event is October 10, 2009.   • October 9; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Perry County, sponsored by PA CleanWays and PA CleanWays of Perry County. This cleanup will be held along Iron Mountain Road in Greenwood Township. Volunteers should meet at 8:45 AM at the dumpsite. (From Millerstown: Follow North Market Street/ Bear Right onto Iron Mountain Road (at 322/22 ramp)/ Follow Iron Mountain Road 1 mile to dumpsite on the left/ Follow PA CleanWays signs.)   • October 10; 10 AM to 1 PM; Special Collection/Recycling Event in Lawrence County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Butler-Lawrence Counties. This is a Household Hazardous Waste Collection and is taking place at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds in Hickory Township. This collection is for household hazardous wastes only and fees apply.   • October 10; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Northumberland County, sponsored by PA CleanWays. Volunteers are needed to help bag trash and collect tires for proper disposal and recycling. Volunteers should meet at 9 AM at the Bunker Hill Ball Field Complex with sturdy shoes/boots and long pants. Registration is required by October 8th. Rain date for this event is October 24th.   • October 10; 8 AM to Noon; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in McKean County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of McKean County. This cleanup is taking place on Forest Service Roads 133 and 325 in Wetmore Township. For additional information, contact Heather McKean at 814-887-4003 or e-mail.

  • October 14; 8:30 AM to Noon; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Allegheny County, sponsored by Allegheny CleanWays. We'll be working with Allegheny Land Trust to clean up accumulated trash and debris from Sycamore Island in the Allegheny River. We'll meet at Steel City Rowing in Verona, where we'll board the Anna Hubbard for a short ride to the island. As usual, we'll provide all necessary supplies and equipment as well as lunch afterwards. To get there from downtown, head east on PA-28N. Take exit 6 to merge onto Highland Park Bridge towards PA-8/Aspinwall. Take ramp to Washington Blvd. Continue on Allegheny River Blvd into Verona. Turn left on James Street, left onto West Railroad Avenue, and the 3rd right onto Allegheny Avenue. We'll meet you in the parking lot.   • October 17; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Northampton County, sponsored by PA CleanWays. Volunteers are needed to help clean up illegally dumped tires and trash on Blue Mountain in Wind Gap. Meet on 8th Street in Wind Gap. Take Route 33 to Route 512 in Wind Gap and head north on Route 512, which turns into Route 115. At Cramer's Lumber Yard, turn left onto 8th Street. Go over the railroad bridge and park on the side of the road. Please wear sturdy shoes, long sleeves, long pants, and heavy-duty gloves. Lunch and drinks will be provided.   • October 17; 9 AM to 2 PM; Special Collection/Recycling Event in Blair County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Blair County. This is a bulky waste, appliance, tire, and electronics drop off event and will take place at the Williamsburg Wastewater Treatment Plant. For more information, contact Mike Union at e-mail.

  • October 17; 10 AM to 5 PM; Educational Event in Mifflin County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Mifflin County and Mifflin County Solid Waste Authority. This will take place at the Mifflin County Youth Fair Grounds in Reedsville. We will be hosting a green expo, offering green product information with vendors. Green craft vendors will be making items from reused, recycled green materials. There will also be informational booths on where and how you can recycle.   • October 17; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Armstrong County, sponsored by PA CleanWays. This cleanup is taking place on South Long Run Road in South Bend Township, near the town of Olivet. Volunteers should meet at Dob Brothers Country Kitchen's back parking lot at 8:45 AM. From Apollo, take Route 56 East for 3.5 miles toward the town of Spring Church. The restaurant will be at the intersection of Balsiger Road before Elks Country Club on the left. Lunch and drinks will be provided. Volunteers should wear sturdy shoes or boots and long pants. Registration deadline is October 12th.   • October 17; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Warren County, sponsored by PA CleanWays. This cleanup is taking place at Panther Gap Road in Freehold Township. Volunteers are needed to load tires into dumpsters for recycling. Volunteers should meet at the dumpsite at 8:45 AM. From Rte. 6, take Deadman's Road (Across from road to junkyard) to Panther Gap, take left, dump site is up the road on the left. Registration deadline is October 15th.   • October 17; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Washington County, sponsored by PA CleanWays and PA CleanWays of Washington County. This cleanup will be held along Devil's Den Road in Hanover Township. Volunteers should meet at 8:45 AM at the Paris Sportsmen's Club. Direction from Washington: Follow PA-18 North. Turn left onto Steubenville Pike (Old US-22) and follow for 4.9 miles. Turn right onto Devil's Den Road for 0.8 miles. Club is on the right. Volunteers will carpool to dumpsite.   • October 19; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Warren County, sponsored by PA CleanWays. This cleanup will be held on Brown Run Road in the Allegheny National Forest in Mead Township. Volunteers should meet at 8:45 AM at the site. Take Rte 59 to Brown Run Road, at fork go right, dump is .25 miles on left. Volunteers will help remove litter from illegal dumping. Lunch and drinks will be provided. Volunteers should wear sturdy shoes or boots and long pants. Registration deadline is October 15th.   • October 20; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Warren County, sponsored by PA CleanWays. This cleanup will be held on Four Mile Run Road in the Allegheny National Forest in Sheffield Township where volunteers are needed to help remove litter from illegal dumping.. Volunteers should meet at 8:45 AM at the site. Take Rte 6 to Four Mile Run Road (in Saybrook), dump is just past the bridge on the right. Lunch and drinks will be provided. Volunteers should wear sturdy shoes or boots and long pants. Registration deadline is October 15th.   • October 24; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Erie County, sponsored by PA CleanWays. This cleanup will be held at the Lake Erie Region Conservancy's Rand Farm in McKean Township. Volunteers should meet at 8:45 AM at the Rand Farm, 6566 West Road, McKean, PA. (Take I-79 Exit 174/ Follow West Road towards Sterrettania for approx. 1.3 miles.)   • October 24; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Centre County, sponsored by PA CleanWays. This cleanup is taking place in Snow Shoe Township at Snow Shoe Rails to Trails Gillentown Trailhead. Volunteers should meet at the trailhead sign at 8:45 AM. From Snow Shoe, (Exit 147 on I-80), go west on Route 144 (West Sycamore Road) for 2.5 miles. Trailhead will be on your left. Park at the SSRTA parking lot or at the Moshannon Community Center. Lunch and drinks will be provided. Volunteers should wear sturdy shoes or boots and long pants. Registration deadline is October 19th.   • October 24; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Forest County, sponsored by PA CleanWays. This cleanup will be held on Jug Handle Road in Kingsley Township. Volunteers should meet at 8:45 AM at the site. From Rte 36, take Dutch Hill Road to Jug Handle Road on the right. Dumpsite is approximately ½ mile down the road, right after the "No Winter Maintenance" sign. Volunteers will help remove litter from illegal dumping. Lunch and drinks will be provided. Volunteers should wear sturdy shoes or boots and long pants. Registration deadline is October 22nd.   • October 24; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Somerset County, sponsored by PA CleanWays. This cleanup is taking place at the end of Spruce Lane in Somerset Township. Volunteers should meet at the end of Spruce Lane. Spruce Lane is located off of Center Avenue between Cannery Road and Stepping Stone Road.   • October 24; 9 AM to Noon; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Lawrence County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Butler-Lawrence Counties. This cleanup is taking place on Muddy Creek Road in Slippery Rock Township. For additional information, contact Jerry Zona at 724-658-6925 or e-mail.

  • October 24; 9:30 AM to Afternoon; Dump Cleanup in Erie County, sponsored by The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy. Help WPC clean up debris on our recently acquired West Branch French Creek property in Erie. We will meet at the property at 9:30 AM and work until mid to late afternoon.   • October 28th and 29th; 9 AM to 5PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Elk County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Elk County. This cleanup will take place at the Jay Township Dump in Weedville. We are partnering with Elk County Recycling Office and the township to clean up the perimeter of the old township dump. The dump is slated for a remediation project through the Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation in 2010. For additional information, contact Bekki Titchner at 814-776-5373 or e-mail.

  • October 30; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Northumberland County, sponsored by PA CleanWays. This event will be held on Renns Road in Upper Augusta Township.   • October 30; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Indiana County, sponsored by PA CleanWays. This is a volunteer trash cleanup on North Elkin Road in North Mahoning Township. Directions to Little Mahoning Bible Conference Center from Indians; take Route 119 North for approximately nine miles. Turn left onto Rt. 85 for 5.5 miles and then turn right onto 210 North in Plumville for 6.7 miles. Then make a left onto Alabran Road. Little Mahoning Bible Conference Center will be two miles down the road on the left. Volunteers should wear sturdy shoes or boots and long pants. Lunch and drinks will be provided.
