July 2009
  • July 10; 5 PM to 8 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Allegheny County, sponsored by Allegheny CleanWays. Join us as we help the Allegheny Land Trust clean up the Allegheny River near Barking Slopes. Please wear long pants, sturdy (i.e. closed-toed) shoes or boots, and be prepared for inclement weather. As always, we'll provide equipment, refreshments, instructions, and entertainment after the cleanup. To get there from downtown, take Rt. 28 N to Harmarville. From HARMARVILLE take Freeport Road South to the HULTON BRIDGE across the Allegheny River into Oakmont. Depart HULTON BRIDGE and travel straight on HULTON ROAD / State Route 909 / YELLOW BELT / 4.9 mi. Turn left onto BARKING ROAD / 1.3 miles. Arrive at PARKING AREA in BARKING before the road turns into a gravel road. We'll meet you there! For additional information, please contact Myrna Newman at 412-381-1301 or e-mail.

  • July 18; 8:30 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Clinton County, sponsored by Clinton County CleanScapes. Our 6th Annual West Branch Susquehanna River and Roadway Cleanup will be held at the intersection of Rt. 664/Coundersport Pike and Jay Street. Volunteers can hike, paddle, or dive to remove man-made debris from Farrandsville Road or the river. Click here for details. For more information, contact Elisabeth Lynch McCoy at 570-726-3511 or e-mail.
