  • April 1 to 24th; Educational Event in Mifflin County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Mifflin County. This Recycle Poster Contest is being offered to all Mifflin County and Mount Union Area Schools, grades 3 to 12. Deadline for posters is April 24th and judging will take place on April 30th at 11 AM at the Mifflin County Extension Office at 152 East Market Street in Lewistown.   • April 4; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Philadelphia County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Royal Gardens in Morris Park, West Philadelphia. This cleanup is to remove illegal dumping along the perimeters of Morris Park and Cobbscreek Golf Course. We will also plant trees at Royal Gardens.   • April 4; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Juniata County, sponsored by PA CleanWays. This cleanup will be held in the Gregory Alan Grening Forest Preserve located off of Old Route 22 in Mexico, Walker Township. We will meet at the dumpsite at 8:45 AM. (Park at the ballpark, and the dumpsite is located along the left backfield side.) Volunteers will help remove litter and illegal dumping from the Greg's Woods illegal dumpsite. Rain date is April 5.   • April 4; 8:30 AM to Noon; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Lawrence County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Butler-Lawrence Counties. This cleanup will be held in the city of New Castle. For more information, contact Jerry Zona at 724-658-6925 or e-mail.

  • April 4; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Fulton County, sponsored by PA CleanWays and PA CleanWays of Fulton County. Volunteers are needed to help remove an illegal dumpsite located on Frank Road in Thompson Township. Volunteers will meet at the top of Frank Road. From McConnellsburg, take US 522 South to PA 655 South to the intersection of Frank and Diehl Road in Covalt. From Hanncock, MD, take I-70 North to exit 168/US 522 South to PA 484. Follow PA 484 East across I-70 until it runs into PA 665 North. Follow to intersection with Frank and Diehl Road in Covalt. Rain date for this cleanup is April 5th.   • April 4; 8 AM to 4 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Westmoreland County, sponsored by Westmoreland County. This cleanup is being held in Derry Borough and is for various sites, specifically along First Avenue and between Ligonier Street and Hannastown Road. Volunteers are to meet at the Caboose at the end of South Chestnut Street. Bring a bag lunch and your own equipment. Bags, gloves, and vests will be provided.   • April 4; 8:30 AM to Noon; Special Collections or Recycling Event in Westmoreland County, sponsored by Westmoreland Cleanways. This special collections event is being held at Norwin Hills Shopping Center in North Huntingdon Township. We'll be accepting tires, lead acid batteries, scrap metal, Freon appliances, and electronics. There will be a charge for tires, e-waste, and Freon removal.   • April 4; Noon to 4 PM; Educational Event in Westmoreland County, sponsored by Westmoreland County. This is an Earth Day Celebration being held at the Winnie Palmer Nature Reserve in Unity Township. There will be displays from county environmental organizations.   • April 4; 9 AM to Noon; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Huntingdon County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Huntingdon County. This is a roadside cleanup on E. Branch Road (SR 1019) in Miller Township. Lunch will be sponsored by Sheetz on 14th and Moore Street. Directions: Take Rt. 26 North of Huntingdon to Jackson's Corner. Make a Right onto E. Branch Road (SR. 1019) towards Greenwood Furnace State Park. The site is less than two miles from the intersection with Rt. 26. Please carpool as parking will be limited.   • April 4; 8 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Columbia County, sponsored by PA CleanWays. This volunteer cleanup is being held in Orange Township along the confluence of Stony Brook with Fishing Creek. Volunteers should meet at 8 AM at Kocher Park on SR 487 just north of Light Street.   • April 4; 11 AM to 2 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Columbia County, sponsored by PA CleanWays and Bloomsburg University. This cleanup will be on Back Branch Road (TR 4008) 1.5 miles west of Light Street. For additional information, contact Sue Urchek at 877-772-3673 x 106 or e-mail.

  • April 8; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Fayette County, sponsored by PA CleanWays. This cleanup is in Nicholson Township along Lover's Leap Road. Volunteers are asked to meet at 9 AM in the parking lot of Amy Lin's Restaurant, 25 Main Street, Smithfield. We will carpool from there. Volunteers should wear sturdy shoes/shoes and long pants.   • April 11; 8 AM to Noon; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Butler County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Butler-Lawrence Counties.   • April 11; 8:45 AM to 12:30 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Clinton County, sponsored by Clinton County CleanScapes. This cleanup is being held at the Flaming Foliage boat launch on Rt. 150 in Renovo. We will be removing man-made debris from the banks of the West Branch Susquehanna River.   • April 18; 9 AM to 1 PM; Beautification Event in Philadelphia County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Royal Gardens in Morris Park, West Philadelphia.   • April 18-19; 8 AM to 4 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Westmoreland County, sponsored by Westmoreland County.   • April 18; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Perry County, sponsored by PA CleanWays. This is the second volunteer cleanup at the Boots Hollow Road dumpsite. Volunteers should meet at 9 AM behind the Bear's Den Restaurant on SR 74. south of the intersection of SR 74 and SR 17 in Ickesburg. We will carpool from there. Please wear sturdy shoes or boots and long pants. Lunch and drinks will be provided. This cleanup is being supported by the County of Perry and Perry Conservation District.   • April 19; 10 AM to 2 PM; Educational Event in Lawrence County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Butler-Lawrence Counties. This is a youth oriented event complete with various conservation and environmental activities and displays. It will be held at Ewing Park in Ellwood City Borough.   • April 22; 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Allegheny County, sponsored by Allegheny CleanWays. Come out for our first Tireless Event of 2009. Join us as we celebrate Earth Day by cleaning up litter and debris along the Monongahela River. REI, one of our primary partners, will be hosting the event along with other family-friendly activities. Register with REI at 412-488-9410 ext 308 or e-mail and have a chance to win an REI "Get Dirty" shirt and/or other prizes. Please dress appropriately for the task; sturdy, closed-toed shoes or boots and long pants. Refreshments, equipment, and instructions will be provided. To get to the cleanup site from downtown Pittsburgh, take the Smithfield Bridge and turn left onto Carson Street. Proceed through the South Side and turn left onto 18th Street which will lead directly into the South Side Riverfront Park. We will assemble beneath the Birmingham Bridge.   • April 22; 9 AM to 2 PM; Educational Event in Allegheny County, sponsored by Allegheny CleanWays. This is being held at the Pittsburgh Zoo Education Building in Highland Park. The Partner Resource Fair is a portion of the Youth Summit in which environmental organizations will be able to present key issues they work on. We will be educating students attending the summit about litter by using our Litter IQ board and possibly our Close the Loop board.   • April 23; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Bedford County, sponsored by PA CleanWays. This cleanup is being held along Graybill Road in King Township.   • April 25; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Fulton County, sponsored by PA CleanWays and PA CleanWays of Fulton County. This cleanup will be held along Licking Creek Road in Thompson Township. We will meet at the dumpsite at 8:45 AM. (From McConnellsburg, follow US-522 S/Great Cove Road for 7 miles. Turn left onto PA-928/Big Cove Tannery Road and follow for 6 miles. Turn left onto Johnson Road. Once you cross the bridge over Licking Creek, turn right onto Licking Creek Road, and end at the dumpsite.) Volunteers will help remove litter and illegal dumping from the Licking Creek illegal dumpsite.   • April 25; 9 AM to 1 PM; Beautification Event in Philadelphia County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Royal Gardens in Morris Park, West Philadelphia. We are going to plant native flowering trees and shrubs in Royal Gardens at Morris Park. We will be painting as well as removing invasive materials along roadways and the park.   • April 25; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Dauphin County, sponsored by PA CleanWays. Rain date is scheduled for April 26th at 9 AM. This cleanup is to remove an illegal dumpsite located off Isle of Q Road. We are meeting at the cleanup site on Isle of Q Road in Rife. From Millersburg, take Route 209 East toward Rife.   • April 25; 8 AM to 1 PM; Special Collections or Recycling Event in Cambria County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Cambria County. This event is being held at the Croyle Township Municipal Building in Cambria County.   • April 25; 9 AM to 3 PM; Educational Event in Butler County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Butler-Lawrence Counties, BASF Corporation and the CAER Committee. Come celebrate Earth Day with us at EDCO Park on Main Street in Evans City. There is a Community Volunteer cleanup from 9 AM to 11 AM with festivities from 11 AM to 3 PM. This cleanup is being held at Memorial Park/Crosscutter Field off of West 4th Street. We will be removing man-made debris from the banks of Lycoming Creek. Click here for details.   • April 25; 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Allegheny County, sponsored by Allegheny CleanWays. Join us as we participate in Millvale Borough's Annual CleanSweep by helping to clean the Allegheny River and Girty's Run in Millvale. Meet at Millvale's Riverfront Park. From downtown Pittsburgh, take RT 28 North to exit 3 / Millvale. Turn left at light. Go straight at stop sign (look - dangerous intersection). Proceed about 100 yards and look for sign on left for Millvale Riverfront Park under Rt. 28S overpass. Turn left at same sign under RT 28S overpass.   • April 25; 8AM to Noon; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Cumberland County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Cumberland County. This cleanup will be along Old Lisburn Road in South Middleton. From Mechanicsburg, volunteers should travel along Rt. 641 towards Carlisle. From Rt. 641, turn left at Army Heritage Drive and proceed to the intersection at Fairview Avenue. Turn left onto Fairview Avenue, and travel approximately 100 yards, to Lisburn Road. Turn left onto Lisburn Road and travel approximately 100 yards to a cellular tower on the left side of the road.   • April 25; 8 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in McKean County, sponsored by PA CleanWays and PA CleanWays of McKean County. This cleanup will be held on State Game Lands #301 near Larabee-Y in Eldred Township. (From Smethport, follow PA-46N to PA-446/ Follow PA-446N/ Just North of Coryville, turn Left onto West Eldred Road/ Continue on West Eldred Road for approx. 200 yards to dumpsite) Volunteers will help remove litter and illegal dumping.   • April 27; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Dauphin County, sponsored by PA CleanWays. This event is to help clean up various illegal dumpsites located at Deibler's Gap on Paxton Drive in Upper Paxton and Mifflin Townships. Meet at the top of Deibler's Gap Road near the cell phone tower. This cleanup will take place rain or shine.
