  • September 6; 9 AM to Noon; Educational Event in Westmoreland County, sponsored by Westmoreland Cleanways. A Backyard Composting Workshop will be held at the Donohoe Center in Greensburg.   • September 6; 10 AM to 4 PM; Educational Event in Mifflin County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Mifflin County. This educational event will be held at Wayne Township Atkinson Mills Senior Center and Ball Field. We will have a booth for handouts and we will have our Litter IQ Board for kids to use.   • September 13; 8:30 AM to Noon; Special Collections/Recycling Event in Westmoreland County, sponsored by Westmoreland Cleanways. This is a tire, battery, and appliance collection that is being held at the Westmoreland Fairgrounds. For additional information, contact Ellen Keefe at 724-836-4129 or e-mail.

  • September 13; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Luzerne County, sponsored by PA CleanWays. This cleanup will be held in Lackawanna State Forest, Plymouth Township. We will meet at the Lackawanna State Forest's Parking Area adjacent to Harvey Creek on Route 29 (1.6 miles from the point where Route 29 breaks North off of Route 11 in West Nanticoke) at 8:45 AM. Volunteers will help remove litter and illegal dumping from the Avondale Hill and Midzail Parking Area illegal dumpsites. Rain date is September 14.   • September 20; 10 AM to 1 PM; Special Collections/Recycling Event in Lawrence County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Butler-Lawrence Counties. This will take place at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds and is a special collection event for appliances, electronics, and tires. Fees apply.   • This HHW Collection has been rescheduled for October 11th.
    September 20; 9 AM to 2 PM; Special Collections/Recycling Event
    in Westmoreland County, sponsored by Westmoreland Cleanways. This is a household hazardous waste collection that is being held at the Westmoreland Fairgrounds. For additional information, contact Ellen Keefe at 724-836-4129 or e-mail.

  • September 20; 9 AM to Noon; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Allegheny County, sponsored by Allegheny CleanWays. This cleanup will take place at the Lawrenceville Riverfront. For our last Tireless event of the season, we'll be taking part in the International Coastal Cleanup Day. Participants will clean up litter and debris along the Lawrenceville Riverfront Trail and the adjacent Allegheny River riparian buffer zone. Equipment, refreshments, instructions, and lunch will be provided. Come dressed appropriately. We suggest long pants and sturdy boots or shoes and be prepared for inclement weather. To get there from downtown Pittsburgh, take Liberty Avenue into Lawrenceville and turn left onto 40th Street. Proceed towards the 40th Street Bridge and turn right just before you get to the bridge. Continue on 40th street. Park in the parking lot at the end of the street. Look for our table and banner in the small park near the trail.   • September 20; 8 AM to 1 PM; Special Collections/Recycling Event in Mifflin County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Mifflin County. This event will be held in the parking lot of the Wal Mart in Lewistown. We are having a Tire Recycle War against Huntingdon County.   • September 20; International Coastal Cleanup in Montgomery County, Worcester Township. This cleanup will focus on litter removal from the township. For event details, contact Kirsten Trump at Worcester Township at 610-584-1410 or e-mail.

  • September 20; 9 AM to 1 PM; International Coastal Cleanup in Morris Park in Philadelphia County. Volunteers are needed to help remove litter and illegal dumping. Meet at Papa Playground at the corner of Lansdowne Avenue and 68th Street. For more information, please contact Nicole Chandler at 215-473-1885 or e-mail.

  • September 20; International Coastal Cleanup in Montgomery County. This event will be in Plymouth Township at East Plymouth Valley Park in Germantown Pike. Meet at the pond at 9 AM. For directions and additional information, contact the greater Plymouth Community Center at 610-277-4312.

  • September 20; 8 AM to 1 PM; Special Collections/Recycling Event in Cambria County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Cambria County. This is an appliance, tire, and electronics recycling event and it will be held in Cambria Township. For more information, please contact Mark Stockley at 814-472-2120 or e-mail.

  • September 20; 9 AM; International Coastal Cleanup in Delaware Borough, Darby County. This cleanup will encompass the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Wards within Darby Borough. Meet at 9 AM at the Darby Borough Municipal Building at 821 Summit Street. Contact Janice Davis at 610-721-4203 for more information.

  • September 20; 8 AM to Noon; Special Collections/Recycling Event in Huntingdon County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Huntingdon County. This is a tire collection and will be held at Huntingdon Wal-Mart. We are having a Tire Recycle War against Mifflin County to see who can collect and recycle the most tires.   • September 21; 8:30 AM to 3 PM; International Coastal Cleanup in Delaware County, sponsored by PA CleanWays.. This cleanup will take place on Little Tinicum Island, William Penn State Forest. Volunteers are to meet promptly at 8:30 AM at Ridley Township Marina in Ridley Park and will be transported to the island by boat.   • September 27; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Luzerne County, sponsored by PA CleanWays. This cleanup will be held in Nescopeck State Park, Butler and Dennison Townships. We will meet at the Nescopeck State Park Office and EE Center Parking Lot on Honey Hole Road (I-80 Exit 262 to Pa-309 South to Left onto Honey Hole Road) at 8:45 AM. Volunteers will help remove litter and illegal dumping from the Lower Day Use Area, Woodfrog Homestead and Woodfrog North illegal dumpsites. Rain date is October 4.   • September 27; 8 AM to 1 PM; Special Collections/Recycling Event in Cambria County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Cambria County.   • September 27; 8:30 AM to Noon; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Mifflin County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Mifflin County. This cleanup event will take place on Pleasant Valley Road in Decature Township. Volunteers will meet at the Lewistown Mifflin County Library at 8:30 AM and proceed to Pleasant Valley Road to do a roadside and illegal dump cleanup from there.   • September 28; 9 AM; International Coastal Cleanup in the Bucks County, New Brittain. Meet at the New Brittain Covered Bridge Park which is at the Pine Valley Covered Bride on Old Iron Hill Road. This cleanup will be focusing on cleaning up the area around the bridge, park, and Pine Run. For more information, please contact Susan Conrad at 215-718--3361 or e-mail.

  • September 28; Noon to 3 PM; International Coastal Cleanup in Montgomery County. This is being held at Elkins Park at Wall Park. Meet in Wall Park at Church Road and Wallpark Drive. Wear comfortable work cloths and closed shoes. Work gloves, trash bags, and snacks will be provided.
