  • April 19 thru May 3; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Mifflin County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Mifflin County. During this cleanup, volunteers will clean SR 103 from the village of Ryde to Newton Hamilton. Once cleaned, volunteers will continue on SR 22 along Newton Road.   • April 19 thru May 3; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Mifflin County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Mifflin County. This event is a community cleanup in Wayne Township. Volunteers will help cleanup roadside litter throughout the township. For more information, please contact Pam Sechrist at 717-899-6701 e-mail.

  • May 3; 9 AM to Noon; Educational Event in Westmoreland County, sponsored by Westmoreland Cleanways. A Backyard Composting Workshop will be held at the Winnie Palmer Nature Reserve at St. Vincent College in Latrobe. Registration is required.   • May 3; 8:30 AM to Noon; Special Collections/Recycling Event in Westmoreland County, sponsored by Westmoreland Cleanways. This is a tire, battery, and appliance collection and is being held at the Wynnsong Theater in Delmont. For further information, contact Ellen Keefe at

  • May 3; 1 PM to 4 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Huntingdon County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Huntingdon County. This cleanup will take place along the Old Never Sweat/Benedictine Access Road. An access road to a newly completed acid mine treatment system is in need of volunteers to help cleanup tires, white goods, and miscellaneous trash.   • May 3; 9 AM to 2 PM; Special Collection or Recycling Event in Cambria County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Cambria County. This event will take place at the Patton Borough. It is an appliance and tire collection event and is a valuable resource for county residents to properly dispose of items that are generally difficult to do so.   • May 3; 1 PM to 4:30 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Washington County, sponsored by PA CleanWays. This greenways cleanup is a continuation of William Gumbert's Eagle Scout Project. We will meet at the trail head on Briggs Street in Allenport Borough. Volunteers will help remove litter and illegal dumping from Allenport Hollow Creek.   • May 3; 8 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump Cleanup in Cambria County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Cambria County and PA CleanWays. This event is a volunteer cleanup that will take place along Patterson Road in Barr Township. The community is being asked to help clean up trash, appliances, construction debris, carpeting, etc., from this active site. Interested volunteers are to wear long pants and sturdy shoes or boots and be prepared for inclement weather. Volunteers must be 12 years of age or older and youth ages 12-17 must bring a signed PA CleanWays Parental Consent Form. Refreshments and cleanup supplies will be provided.   • May 3; 9 AM to Noon; Beautification Event in Philadelphia County, sponsored by PA CleanWays Royal Gardens in Morris Park, West Philadelphia. This beautification event will be held at the Fairmount Park Commissions where volunteers will remove invasive materials from a wildflower meadow and riparian area.   • May 3; 9 AM to Noon; Beautification Event in Allegheny County, sponsored by Allegheny CleanWays. This event is a project of Pittsburgh Cares'-Hands on Pittsburgh 2008. Volunteers will be restoring a woodland garden, planting native shrubbery, developing and restoring a trail through the Greenway, eliminating exotic/invasive plant species, and cleaning up litter and illegal dumping.   • May 3; 8:15 AM to Noon; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Mifflin County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Mifflin County. This cleanup is taking place in Granville and Derry Townships. Volunteers will meet at the Mifflin County Library at 8:15 AM and will travel to Big Ridge Road. Other township roads will be cleaned from there.   • May 10; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Dauphin County, sponsored by PA CleanWays. We will be cleaning up various illegal dumpsites located at Deibler's Gap on Paxton Drive in Upper Paxton and Mifflin Townships. Volunteers are to meet at the top of Deibler's Gap Road near the cell phone tower between Upper Paxton and Mifflin Townships. In case of inclement weather, rain date for this cleanup is May 11th.   • May 17; 9 AM to Noon; Educational Event in Westmoreland County, sponsored by Westmoreland Cleanways. A Backyard Composting Workshop will be held at the Donohoe Center in Greensburg.   • May 17; 9 AM to 2 PM; Special Collection or Recycling Event in Cambria County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Cambria County. This event will take place at the Cambria Township Municipal Building. It is an appliance and tire collection event and is a valuable resource for county residents to properly dispose of items that are generally difficult to do so.   • May 18; 1 PM to 5 PM; Educational Event in Cumberland County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Cumberland County. The Mechanicsburg Recreation Department is sponsoring this annual weekend environmental stewardship event at the Trails and Trees Environmental Center with interactive environmental displays. PA CleanWays of Cumberland County will be there from 1 PM to 5 PM. For more information, contact Michael Onofrey at 717-766-9460 or e-mail.

  • May 23; 5 PM to 8 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Allegheny County, sponsored by Allegheny CleanWays. Join us as we clean up litter and debris along the Strip District Trail and Allegheny River bank. We'll provide equipment, refreshments, and instructions. As always, plan to stay around for dinner and live music (on us!) - Tireless Friday tradition. To be safe during the cleanup, please wear long pants and sturdy shoes or boots and be prepared for inclement weather. To get to the cleanup from downtown, take Liberty Avenue into the Strip District, make a left onto 12th Street, then a right onto Smallman. You'll see Seagate Building directly on your left. Turn into Seagate's parking lot, park and proceed to the Allegheny River on the Strip District Trail. Look for our table and banner near the trailhead.   • May 24; 9 AM to 1 PM; Special Collections/Recycling Event in Westmoreland County, sponsored by Westmoreland Cleanways in partnership with Roaring Run Watershed Association..   • May 27; 9 AM to 2 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Greene County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Greene County. This cleanup is being held in Morris Township on North Hill. Volunteers will pick up trash and garbage from over the hillside. For more information, contact Theresa Matscherz at 724-627-7097 or e-mail.

  • May 27 and 28; 9 AM to 3 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Greene County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Greene County. This cleanup is being held in Morris Township at the North Hill dumpsite. Volunteers will be picking up tires and trash that has been over the hillside for years. For additional information, please contact Theresa Matscherz at 724-627-7097 or e-mail.

  • May 31; 9 AM to Noon; Beautification Event in Philadelphia County, sponsored by PA CleanWays Royal Gardens in Morris Park, West Philadelphia. This beautification event will be held at the Fairmount Park Commissions where volunteers will remove invasive materials from a rear walking trail.
