  • May 1 to May 31; Special Collection or Recycling Event in Erie County, sponsored by PA CleanWays. This is an ongoing event that will last for till the end of May in which boat shrink wrap that is removed from winterized boats in the Presque Isle State Park Marina will be collected and recycled.   • May 5; 9 AM to 2 PM; Appliance and Tire Recycling Event in Cambria County, Patton Borough, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Cambria County in conjunction with Patton Borough. This event is being held in Patton Borough parking lot near the fooball field. Costs: $12 for appliances that contain freon; $6 for appliances that do not contain freon; $2 for passenger and light truck tires that are off the rim; $3 for passenger and light truck tires that are on the rim.   • May 5; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup, in Franklin County, sponsored by PA CleanWays. This cleanup is being held in Michaux State Forest along Rattlesnake Run Road.. Volunteers will help remove litter and illegal dumping. For additional information, contact Michelle Dunn at 877-772-3673 or e-mail.

  • May 5; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Bradford County, sponsored by Clinton County CleanScapes. This cleanup is taking place on Ellenton Mountain Road in Canton Township. We are going to be cleaning up debris along a roadside dumping area that is moderately slopped and adjacent to a Lycoming Creek tributary.   • May 5; 9 AM to 12:30 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Allegheny County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Allegheny County. The Woodland/Shadeland Block Watch and partners of PA CleanWays of Allegheny County, PA Resources Council, Brightwood Civic Group, Brightwood Community Emergency Center, and New Hope for Neighborhood Renewal will host a litter pick-up focusing on Woodland and Shadeland Avenues. The cleanup will run from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. followed by lunch and a prize raffle. All volunteers will receive a free t-shirt and refreshments will be provided.   • May 5; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Northumberland County, sponsored by PA CleanWays. This cleanup is being held on Merriam Mountain Road in Mt. Carmel Township. We will meet at the corner of Hickory and 7th Streets in Mt. Carmel. Volunteers will help remove tires, plastics, and furniture.   • May 6; 1 PM to 4 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup, in Franklin County, sponsored by PA CleanWays. This cleanup is being held in Michaux State Forest along Ridge Road South.. Volunteers will help remove litter and illegal dumping. For additional information, contact Michelle Dunn at 877-772-3673 or e-mail.

  • May 12; 9 AM to 2 PM; Special Collection/Recycling Event , in Fayette County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Fayette County and the Fayette County Office of Recycling and Solid Waste. This Hard-To-Recycle Drop Off Event will be held at the Fayette County Fairgrounds and we'll be accepting the following items for recycling - used motor oil, anti-freeze, kerosene, hydraulic oil, transmission oil, rimless passenger and light truck tires which will cost $1 per tire, large steel appliances which will cost $2 each, old electronic items such as television sets, micro wave ovens, and radios which will cost $1 each. We will not be accepting household hazardous waste and paint cans. For additional information, contact the Fayette County Recycling Hotline at 724-430-4884.

    ; 9 AM to 12:30 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Allegheny County,
    sponsored by PA CleanWays of Allegheny County.
    The Beechview/Seldom Seen Greenway is about 90 acres of potentially BEAUTIFUL forest along Route 51 near the Liberty Tunnels. Parts of it are littered with tires and other debris. We will work to remove as much debris as possible from the portion near Vanucci Park. To get there, go south through the Liberty Tunnels, stay straight onto West Liberty Avenue. Turn right at the 3rd stoplight after the tunnels onto Brookside Ave. It merges with Sebring at the top of the hill. Turn right onto Orangewood Ave and follow it to the playground parking lot. We'll be at the far end. Please wear long pants and boots. (There is a short, steep slope to go down to the cleaning area.) We'll provide gloves and equipment, as well as drinks and lunch (donated by Mexi-Casa, Inc.) For additional information, contact Mary Wilson at 412-381-1301 or e-mail.

  • May 12; 8 AM to Noon; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in McKean County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of McKean County. This cleanup will be held at Pine Grove Road, in Annin Township. It is a cleanup of Pine Grove Road and Artline Road dump sites in Annin and Eldred Townships. For further information, contact Heather McKean at 814-778-5208 or e-mail.

  • May 16; 10 AM to 1 PM; Beautification Event in Philadelphia County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Royal Gardens in Morris Park, West Philadelphia. This event is being held in the city of Philadelphia where we will be doing tree maintenance. For further information, contact Nicole Chandler at

  • May 17; 9 AM to Noon; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Elk County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Elk County. During this event, we will be cleaning up an illegal dump off of State Route #120 near the National Fuel Gas building in St. Mary's.   • May 18; 5 PM to 8 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Allegheny County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Allegheny County. The Tireless Project is in its 5th season, so find out what the "best alternative to Happy Hour" is all about!...We will be doing a cleanup of litter and debris along the north shore of the Allegheny River both from the land AND from the water. We'll provide equipment and instructions. Plan to stay around for dinner, refreshments, and live music (on us!)~ a Tireless Friday After Party tradition! To be safe during the cleanup, please wear long pants and sturdy shoes or boots and be prepared for evening cooldown. To get to the cleanup, take 16th Street to the North Shore, turn east (upriver) onto Prospect Street, and then turn right onto Heinz Street which T's with River Avenue.   • May 18; 9 AM to 1 PM; COALS Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Northumberland County, sponsored by PA CleanWays Partners -Northumberland County Conservation District. This event is being held at Pine Hill Road in Rockefeller Township. We will be cleaning litter on Pine Hill Road with students from Shikellamy High School..
