July 2007
  • July 6; 5 PM to 8 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Event in Allegheny County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Allegheny County. Celebrate our 5th season of cleaning up Pittsburgh's 3 rivers by joining us for this event on the North Side. We'll be concentrating on cleaning up the Chateau Segment of the Three Rivers Heritage Trail and the adjacent Ohio River riparian buffer zone. Equipment, refreshments, instructions, musical entertainment and dinner will be provided. We suggest you wear long pants, sturdy boots or shoes and be prepared for evening and/or inclement weather. NEW DIRECTIONS - The staging area for this is at the end of Westhall Street on the North Side. From the Southside, take the West End Bridge and stay in the right lane, but follow arrows to left turn onto Chateau Street (westbound only). Chateau parallels 65 but don't take any ramps. Stay on Chateau until it merges with and becomes Beaver Avenue which is a two way. From the stoplight at merger go 0.8 miles, under railroad trestles, just past one stop sign to Westhall on the left. You'll see a Duquesne Light servcie facility on the left and freight company on the right. From the North Side, take Ridge Avenue west past CCAC Allegheny campus and follow directions straight onto Chateau. From here, follow steps outlined in the directions from the Southside.
