  • November 2; 8 AM to 4 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Huntingdon County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Huntingdon County, PA Game Commission, and PA Conservation Corp. This is Phase One of our Gravel Turn Cleanup which is for equipment only. Volunteers are not needed until Phase Two which will be held on November 17th. We will be focusing on removing large items, scrap metal, and tires. Equipment will be donated by the PA Game Commission.   • November 3; 9 AM to Noon; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Lawrence County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Butler/Lawrence Counties, Inc. This cleanup is going to be held at Neshannock Creek in the city of New Castle and we will be cleaning the Neshannock Creek Trail from El Rio Beach to the Hickory Township line.   • November 3; 9 AM to 12:30 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Allegheny County, sponsored by Allegheny CleanWays. The Beechview/Seldom Seen Greenway is about 90 acres of potentially BEAUTIFUL forest along Route 51 near the Liberty Tunnels. Parts of it are littered with tires and other debris. We will work to remove as much debris as possible from the portion near Vanucci Park. To get there, go south through the Liberty Tunnels, stay straight onto West Liberty Avenue. Turn right at the 3rd stoplight after the tunnels onto Brookside Ave. Brookside Avenue ends at Sebring. Bear left onto Sebring, then turn right onto Orangewood and follow it to the playground parking lot. We'll be at the far end. Also, to get to the bus stop nearest to the Westfield Station, take the 42C or 42S from downtown. Please wear long pants and boots. (There is a short, steep slope to go down to the cleaning area.)   • November 9; 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM; and November 10; 10:30 AM to Noon; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Allegheny County, sponsored by Allegheny CleanWays. This COALS cleanup is being held on Diaz Way in the Hill District of Pittsburgh. It is centered on the hillside along Diaz Way that has been an illegal dumpsite for years. Volunteers for this cleanup are students from City High Charter School and from Duquesne University. We will continue the work started earlier this summer when more than seven tons of debris and tires were removed. For additional information, contact Myrna Newman at 412-381-1301 or e-mail.

  • November 10; 1 PM to 4:30 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Washington County, sponsored by PA CleanWays and Pennsylvania Environmental Council. This COALS cleanup is a continuation of William Gumbert’s Eagle Scout Project. We will meet at the trail head on Briggs Street in Allenport Borough.   • November 10; 9 AM to 12 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Mifflin County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Mifflin County. This cleanup is being held at Back Maitland Road and Chestnut Street Extension in Derry Township. Volunteers will meet at the Mifflin County Library in Lewistown at 8:45 AM and leave from there to clean several small dump sites along both areas.   • November 10; 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM; Educational Event in Allegheny County, sponsored by Allegheny CleanWays. This event includes a 90 minute training on coordinating a community cleanup event with resources and planning materials provided. Participants then help launch the PALS (Partners Against Littered Streets) program with a hot lunch and lively discussion on related issues.   • November 10; 8 AM to Noon; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Westmoreland County, sponsored by Westmoreland Cleanways. This cleanup is going to be held in Derry Township at the Loyalhanna Gorge. For further information, contact Ellen Keefe at 724-836-4129 or e-mail.

  • November 17; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Chester County, sponsored by PA CleanWays. This greenways cleanup is being held along Old Valley Road and the future site of the Exton County Park in West Whiteland Township. We will meet at the West Whiteland Township Parks Building located at 925 Old Valley Road. Volunteers will help remove litter and illegal dumping.   • November 17; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Huntingdon County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Huntingdon County. This is Phase Two of our Gravel Turn Cleanup in which volunteers are needed. The terrain for this site is steep and rocky, so volunteers should dress accordingly for the terrain by wearing pants, long sleeved shirts and a good pair of boots.   • November 17; 9 AM to 1 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Clinton County, sponsored by Clinton County CleanScapes. This cleanup will take place at Memorial Park, Upper/Lower Cross Roads in Castanea Township. Volunteers will remove debris from the scenic and flat stream banks and roadway adjacent to the West Branch Susquehanna River and Bald Eagle Creek.   • November 17; 9 AM to 12 PM; Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup in Mifflin County, sponsored by PA CleanWays of Mifflin County. Volunteers are needed for this event to help remove various illegal dumpsites located on Deibler's Gap Road in Upper Paxton and Mifflin Townships. We will meet at the intersection of Shippen Dam Road, Reitz Road and Deibler's Gap Road. Please park along the roadside of Deibler's Gap Road.
