Paynter
Elementary Students Adopt Road in Baldwin Borough
Six
fourth grade classes from Paynter Elementary School have adopted a road
near their school, part of the Baldwin-Whitehall School District.
On
April 18, 2002, they cleaned the area which falls within the boundaries
of Elm Leaf Park in Baldwin Borough. The park lies in the northern section
of Baldwin Borough in a valley dissected by a creek and a two-lane road.
The park is within walking distance from the elementary school.
Signs
will be posted marking the designated area. The mayor’s office has pledged
their support to the project along with the school’s PTA. In addition
to the road adoption, the students will be exploring other ideas that
cross curriculum with their current studies in school. From English
to math, all facets of the road adoption have become a focus in the
various course studies.
