Fairhaven
Greenway Adopted
The Fairhaven Greenway
Task Force Inc. conducted a pre-adoption cleanup of the greenway, located
in the South Hills of Pittsburgh, on April 6, 2002. The recreational
area, used by local community and youth groups, is home to an abundance
of wildlife. Prior to the formation of the task force, the greenway
was used as an illegal dump site for stolen and abandoned vehicles,
activity which has now ceased.
The
task force planted tulips along the greenway, provided by PA CleanWays
of Allegheny County as a result of an in-kind donation from the Phipps
Conservatory. A strategic plan was created in 2001 for further development
of the greenway.
