Chapter Works with City Charter High School to Provide Internship Opportunity
By
Brandon Baker, 11th grade, City Charter High School
I am a junior at
City Charter High School. I like to play sports and watch T.V. Junior
students at City High have to take an internship to help them get prepared
for the real world. I have an internship at PA CleanWays. The reason
why I chose this particular job is because I like to work as a group
to get things accomplished. I also like the outdoors, and I like to
make neighborhoods a better place for people to live. My job as an intern
is to help out in the office and out in the field in any way I can.
I have some experience with Student Conservation Association, and that
has helped me get really in touch with nature. I took a trip to Denver
for three weeks to volunteer with SCA this past summer. With Danielle,
I spend a lot of time working on a project that is located in the North
Side in the Perry Hilltop. I do a lot of work from picking up trash
to building trails and planting trees. My responsibilities as an intern
are to stay on task, keep a good attitude, do the work and have fun.
What I hope to get out of this is maybe a future job, experience working
in the environmental field, new friends, and the satisfaction of making
a difference. I hope by reading the newsletter that other people would
want to choose PA CleanWays as an internship because it is fun, a good
learning experience, and it brings joy to other people.
